# Creating and Configuring AI Assistants

TalentAssisto's AI assistants are at the core of the product. This chapter will guide you through creating, editing and organizing them.

## Setting up Your First Assistant

Your first assistant is created during setup. To create another one, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your TalentAssisto account.
2. Open the **Assistants** tab in the left sidebar and click the "Create Assistant" button.
3. Fill in the form:

### Basic Information

- Name your assistant (e.g., "Recruitment Specialist" or "Onboarding Guide")
- Optionally provide a brief description of the assistant's primary function
- Write its **Additional Instructions** (required): describe the assistant's role or anything it should always keep in mind

### HR Area

- Select the HR area this assistant will focus on: Talent Management, Payroll, Onboarding, Training and Development, or Recruitment and Selection

### Assistant's Purpose

- Choose up to three tasks from: Document Q&A, Document Generation, Talent Profiling, Hiring and Onboarding, and Labor Compliance

### Avatar and Files

- Optionally choose an avatar image
- Optionally attach files you have uploaded (PDF, Word, TXT, Markdown, CSV or JSON) so the assistant answers from them

### Create

- Click "Create" to save the assistant

4. The new assistant appears in the Assistants list. Select it from the "Your Assistants" dropdown in the upper right corner of the chat, or type "@" in the chat input.

Your plan sets how many assistants you can have: 1 on Talent Scout AI, 5 on HR
Quantum, 20 on People Analytics Pro and unlimited on HR Matrix Elite.

## Editing an Assistant

1. Open the **Assistants** tab and click the assistant you want to change.
2. Edit its name, description, Additional Instructions, HR area, purposes, avatar or attached files.
3. Click "Save".

Assistants reply in the language you write to them in. The assistant created during setup is your default assistant: you can edit it at any time, but it cannot be deleted.

## Managing Multiple Assistants

As your work grows, you may want one assistant per task or department. To keep them organized:

1. Search: use the search bar at the top of the Assistants list.
2. Folders: click the new-folder button next to "Create Assistant" to create a folder (rename it from its edit button), then drag assistants into it.
3. Delete: open an assistant and delete it when you no longer need it (the default assistant cannot be deleted).

**Tips for Effective Assistant Management:**

- Give each assistant one clear job, for example resume screening or policy questions
- Keep the files attached to each assistant current, and remove outdated versions
- Use Additional Instructions for rules the assistant should always follow, such as your company's tone or the country whose labor law applies
- Review the assistant's answers before you use them
